What BNG credits could have generated — if available
Blocked — not available for LRS landHigh value — but blocked for LRS land
Why this matters
DEFRA’s December 2024 guidance means land within the Landscape Recovery Scheme boundary cannot also generate BNG units. For land with high BNG potential, this is a material factor in deciding whether to enter the scheme.
Professional BNG valuations for your specific parcels — from a qualified rural surveyor — would give you a more meaningful comparison than any illustrative range.
LRS payments over 20 years (indicative)
Indicative£600,000 – £900,000
Annual low × 20 to annual high × 20. Pre-inflation, no discounting, and excluding any blended-finance element.
Disclaimer
This calculator is for illustrative purposes only. It uses publicly available indicative ranges from comparable Landscape Recovery Scheme projects. It is not a financial projection, a valuation, or advice.
LRS payments are negotiated individually. Carbon credit values fluctuate with market conditions. BNG values vary enormously by location and land type. Any financial planning for scheme participation should involve your land agent, accountant, and if relevant, environmental finance specialists.
Figures shown are in current prices without inflation adjustment or discount rate.
